Blogger Without a Cause

This is the year of 127 Hours and never a better time to tackle one of Backpacker Magazine’s featured treks in America’s 10 Most Dangerous Hikes, Paria Canyon. As James Franco receives duly deserved accolades for his brilliant depiction of Aron Ralston the American Southwest will come alive in Backpacker with eerily beautiful slot canyons and frigid pools beneath hefty chockstones. A story that will be told by this veteran trekker of Grand and Bryce Canyons, Zion and the Cascades, Alaska, Europe and the Pacific Rim. As an avid blogger, runner, cyclist, backpacker and photographer there is no doubt I am ready for this assignment and many more as the newest member of Team Backpacker!

Camping permits are required and a shuttle to the Buckskin Gulch trailhead will jump-start this six day odyssey. Having completed survival training in Florida, Maine and the Philippines I'll have, as essential gear, my trusty Brunton compass to back-up the Garmin etrex Legend C GPS should it fail. My bag is filled with the cursory brands of North Face, Therm-a-Rest and Jetboil and I am itching to use the Tamron 70-300 lens I just picked up for the trusty digital Canon EOS to document it all.

May our travels be numerous and always throttled by an appreciable level of stress.
